Volksmarch Information

Step it up... for 10 kilometers (5k available)! Sanctioned by the AVA and IVV, this is a great event for the whole family. The trails takes you through Fort Belvoir's natural habitats (with few inclines). Lace up some comfortable shoes and find out why this is such a popular German pastime. Afterwards, come to the fest tent for some well-deserved German eats and treats.

Start/Finish Location:  P-2 Field off US Route 1 (Richmond Highway)

Start/Finish Times: October 4 & 5, 8am - 1pm start (must complete the event by 4pm)

From I-95
Take I-95 to the Newington/Fort Belvoir Exit (166A). Turn right onto Backlick Road. Follow Backlick Road (now Fairfax County Parkway) to the stoplight at the U.S. Route 1 (Richmond Hwy) intersection. Turn left onto Route 1. Follow Route 1 to Constitution Rd.; turn left into Lieber Gate. Follow Constitution Rd. straight ahead, follow signs to parking area.

Gate Information

Woodlawn Gate - The gate at 618 (Woodlawn Gate) is open for inbound traffic all four days. Outbound traffic - North Bound from the Fest on Thursday (11pm), Friday 1am and Sunday (8pm)

Lieber Gate - South Bound traffic same as Woodlawn Gate. All other gates will maintain their normal schedule, except that the Kingman Gate is open for outbound traffic same schedule as Woodlawn Gate.
