The 2012 Centennial National Cherry Blossom Festival event here in the Northern Virginia and DC area starts today, March 20th and runs through April 27th.
The National Park Service predicts that the peak, the point at which 70% of the flowers are in bloom, will be this week. The peak has occurred early this year due to the mild climate. This year is the Centennial Event for the Cherry Blossom Festival marking the 100th anniversary of the gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Japan to the United States.
The trees are beautiful and visitors come from all over the world to participate in the event. For detail event information see the link below.
