Bill Parsons, the Director of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation retired today. At a retirement celebration last week at the Officer's Club, Mr. Parons was joined by family, friends, co-workers, staff and the Commander in their own version of the "Academy Awards". Bill was not only honored for his nearly 20 years of service at Fort Belvoir, but also for his total of 31 years of service to the Army's Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation mission.
Of all the awards and mementos bestowed by dozens of guests and speakers, Mr. Parsons was presented the prestigious White Plume Award for his exemplary dedication and professional service; an accomplishment equaled by few.
We wish Bill, and his wife Kathleen, all of the peace, prosperity, and happiness life has to offer as they begin a new chapter in their lives.
