Franconia Real Estate Market

Franconia is located in highly-sought Fairfax County. The homes for sale in this Northern Virginia city are primarily detached, single-family homes, townhouses in subdivisions such as the Potters Glen neighborhood, rowhouses, condos, and luxury homes. The majority of the houses in this section of Alexandria were built between 1970 and 1999, but there are a number of older residences dating back to about 1940. This is a well-established community, so you'll find that single-family homes enjoy spacious lots with mature landscaping.

Colonial and traditional are the popular styles, with home sizes ranging from around 2,000 to over 4,000 square feet. Some Potters Glen townhomes are newer homes with over 2,000 sq. ft. and boast features that include 2-car garages and large decks. There are also several developments in the Franconia area offering smaller townhomes. These affordably priced two-story models would make great starter homes.

Houses here vary in size, but buyers generally can find homes offering one to six bedrooms. Home prices usually range from $230,000 to $1 million and up. Additionally, homebuyers interested in building their own homes can seek to purchase vacant land.

Major employers in the area include U.S. government agencies, government contracting companies, and Fort Belvoir, just a five-minute drive away.

Northern Virginia has numerous practical and high-end shopping options, including Kingstowne Center, Springfield Mall, and Pentagon City. The Springfield Town Center is two miles away, and the Potomac Mills Outlets are just 20 minutes drive. Outdoor leisure opportunities are abundant in the area, including the Huntley Meadows, Lake Accotink, Dora Kelley Nature, and Hidden Pond Nature parks.
