Old Town Alexandria Community Amenities

The free King Street Trolley is the best way to get around Old Town. Running from the King Street Metro Station to the waterfront, the trolley brings you past or close to all the neighborhood's main attractions, including Market Square — home to one of the oldest continuously-operating markets in the country — and the Torpedo Factory Art Center. A former munitions factory located on Alexandria's waterfront, the Art Centre now houses the studios of around 80 artists and hosts a year-round calendar of events. Other local recreation facilities include the Old Town Pool, which is an outdoor swimming facility open from June to September every year. The pool is reserved for people most of the time, but in September they hold their annual Doggie Swim Day, to give our four-legged friends their turn.
