Welcome to your local Rosemont homes for sale & Alexandria real estate resource. With gentle hills and tree-lined streets, Rosemont is an attractive neighborhood, just outside of Alexandria's Old Town. Rosemont real estate is part of one of the first residential developments outside of the city center, and you'll find an eclectic mix of single-family homes and townhomes. Construction began here in the early 1900's and the neighborhood has remained largely intact since that time. Situated between the King Street and Braddock metro stations, Rosemont homes are perfect for commuters. It's just 20 minutes to the Pentagon and 30 minutes to DC. The neighborhood has been included in the National Register of Historic Places for its fine examples of colonial revival and craftsman-style architecture, and you'll find a lovely selection of single-family homes in the mid-price to luxury range. These period properties mostly date from the 1920's and 30's and feature a wide variety of styles, as well as home and lot sizes. There are mid-priced period townhomes in Rosemont as well, most with good-sized yards in the back, which can double as off-street parking.
Though an almost entirely residential area, Rosemont has one standout local business, and that's Grape and Bean. Located in the neighborhood's only surviving period commercial building, Grape and Bean's patio provides an ideal local meeting spot. In addition to a restaurant, you'll also find a wine shop and gourmet food market on the site. Rosemount is also home to Matthew Maury Elementary School, which is housed in a 1929 colonial revival building. The community features a number of parks with play areas which are maintained by the Rosemont Citizens Association, as well as two dog parks. Another local attraction is the George Washington Masonic National Monument, whose soaring tower can be seen from many points in the neighborhood.
